First Harley, 1981 XLS Roadster
Just traded for this bike. I traded my 1991 Suzuki GSX-R 750. I really wanted to get a 70's Harley. But this deal came up and i had to take it. I know nothing is 100% legit. I went and looked at this bike, guy said it will run. Battery was on charger for two days, but ended up being a junk battery. Needless to say i looked the bike over real good, but never got to hear it run. Real clean, handfull of new parts. S&S shorty carb, chain, sprockets, tires. Bike looks pretty much stock. Even has those dreadful buckhorn bars. Got it home and tried to put the jumper cables on from my truck (truck was not running). The cables i had were real small gauge and heated up after a couple minutes.The lights were bright but wouldnt start. The starter would only spin but not engage. I'm not sure if something is wrong with the starter or if i just have to wait till i get a brand new batteryin it. Im thinking it needs full juice to get that starter to engage at all? This is my 6th bike and first Harley. All other bikes have been sports bikes. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, just the batterey or maybe the starter. I'm not pissed, i'm just glad i have an iron head sitting in my garage. And i dont mind going out there wrenchin on it.

If its not starting with the new battery,try to jump start it.If it runs somethings wrong with the starter.But at least you know the motor is ok!Couldn`t stop looking at the add for this bike! I was in love!!Its a beauty!!Congratulations!
