Another Texan!
I figured I'd register and get my hands dirty doing some research on bikes etc since I'm most likely about to make my first Harley purchase and first motorcycle purchase ever. I'm very excited to say the least, been interested in bikes for a long time but have never really driven one on a regular basis.
But back to introducing myself .. my name is Daniel obviously, I'm 28, a USMC veteran 2003-2007 OIF II. I was a grunt 0331 ( machinegunner ) with 1/7 Baker Company Weapons Platoon. After getting discharged I went to school for about a year for process operations ( refinery stuff ) but I ended up getting hired up with my local fire department in Port Arthur, TX. Beer is my passion, I home brew and drink the hell out of craft beers.
I'm not too familiar with the in's and out's of motorcycles but hey we gotta start somewhere. Looking forward to learning everything I can and having some good times along the way.
The bike that I plan on getting at the moment ( have the paperwork started ) is a 2013 Street Bob in Coloma Gold w/ the 103 and forward controls. It's probably 70/30 in the hate/love area with most people .. but that's what makes me like it even more. Of course I wanted the black denim, but black in general is just so common and I wanted to somewhat break the mold and go a different route whether it's ugly or not. If I grow tired of it, it's nothing that can't be fixed but for now, I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it heh.
As of right now, I planned on getting the V&H short shots but the parts guy didn't really suggest that I have it tuned and with a little reading, it doesn't sound like a good idea. So I think I'll hold off until I research some more before I get pipes and go ahead and buy the upgraded AC and have it tuned. I'm a little more interested in the 2 to 1 actually, thunderheader maybe? I'd rather not take any shortcuts.
Anyways, this intro is getting too long, hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! I'll be around.

Hoping to hear something tomorrow if my credit union will be open. The weather won't get any better than this to ride here in Texas. We get one month of really great spring / fall weather, another month of winter, and 8 months of blazing hot summer it seems heh.
