Default Another newbie

Hey all,
I have been reading the Forumns here for quite awhile, and decided to join as I need helpfrom all of youexperts here. I'm 52 yrs young (lol) with literally no riding experience. So I took the Riders Edge course and passed with flying colors. Took to the riding like a fish to water. I received the Top Turner Award from my instructor and passed the state exam flawlessly. What do you guys think would be a good starter bike? I am 6'-4" and 230 lbs.
Glad to be here.

Buying a motorcycle (in MHO) is somewhat like buying a computer. The choice will depend on your needs, uses, style, and your own physical stature. You have to ask yourself one question first. "What type of riding will I being doing most"? Once you have determined that, off to the dealer with you. Do lots of asking and sitting, then ask more and sit more, haggle some, sit more, haggle more, ask more questions..then RENT the two choices you have narrowed it down to. One one day, the next another day. Then plop down your cash and ride it home.
Then back & forth to the dealer lots & lots as you do your own Mods to it.

"I believe the journey is the destination"

PS Welcome [sm=deal.gif]

Welcome from sunny central California!! Your a big guy, determine what kind of riding you want to do then we can make suggestions. Go to your dealership and sit on a couple. Rent a couple-thats the easiest way to start out. See what feels good to you!! Most importantly, ride safe and smell the roses along the way.

Welcome from sunny SoCal! Soft06 and Skipit have the right formula. Just don't under estimate your possible uses for the bike. Also, your comfort should be one of your top priorities. The more comfortable your riding position, the more you'll what to ride. And ain't that what it's all about? Good Luck!

Hello and welcome to the forum from central PA. Go test ride a few different ones and see what fits you and feels the best. I second the vote for Road King but I may be a little biased.
