Rubberfrog, considering that this will be my first bike I would like to get a used one. After I get some driving hours & road experience I will look for a new one. Used in good condtion is fine for me.

You should be able to find a good deal on a used sportster on craigslist. Just stay out of the dealership.

Lol I'm happy you said that, I was going to go on friday to the harley dealer here in manassas. I was more going in to get some info than make a purchase. I still have a lot to learn.

Use the dealership to find a bike that fits you right, then use Craigslist for one priced right. There are a lot of us No Va guys on this forum, if you need any advice as far as local pricing, just hit us up.
