Default New guy in Texas

Hi.
Great to find this forum.
I've just gotten back into motorcycling,after a too-long hiatus.
My bike history:
First bike I ever rode,then owned,was a 1975 Sportster.Man,what a shaking,vibrating beast.I loved it.Probably 1977 when I got that.
Then I had a 1983 Virago 750 which was purchased on Okinawa when I was in the service.
Next up was a 1997 Wide Glide.Great bike, but had to part with it in late 1999,as I needed a truck worse.
Just yesterday,I went over to Fort Worth and picked up a 2003 Sportster, with just over 1600 miles on it.Best thing is the price was right,so there will be no monthly payments.Give the State a few weeks and a new title with my name on it will be in my mitts.
Just this morning,I awoke and did a wash-n-wax job on it,then drove it around White Rock Lake for a bit.
I'm well-satisfied.
Probably next year I'd like to get a new Deuce.
Planned upgrades for the Sporty will include bumping it up to 1200cc,installing some Paughco upswept pipes, getting a better air cleaner assembly, and installing an extended and raked fork kit.
Anyway, with gas prices continuing to skyrocket,it'll be great to be able to keep my truck parked and have something fun and economical to ride to work.
Better get offa here for now.
Ya'll have a good weekend,and ride safe.

Thanks for the welcome.
Here's a pic.

I've put about 70 miles on it since picking it up Friday.Runs great and is a lot of fun,but I'm definitely going to have to invest in some forward controls.I'm 6'2",and need to stretch my legs out.

Howdy Gary, thanks for the pic of your Sporty. Looks like you will have a lot of fun with her. I sat on a Sporty yesterday and I can understand about forward controls. I am only 5'11" and it felt close for me. I wouldn't mind riding one, though. Enjoy the ride.
