I just bought my first harley a 97 FLHTCI basket case(I'm on a budget).
(Budget explained, I went from a "DINK - Dual Income No Kids" to a "SITCOM - Single Income Two Children Oppressive Mortgage)"
Back to the bike, the engine has been out and apart for 3 years and the guy finally gave up on it.
Crankpin nut came loose, luckily he shut it down and got it trailered home. Bad news is it ate the taper in the flywheel. Cases have some scoring from the nuts, but I believe it is nothing major as it is just clearance anyway.
My goal is to first get it back together and running on the seemingly unliked MMFI and then explore doing a carb conversion on it.
I am looking forward to getting some guidance from a great site and a great bunch of members here.
I've been trying to read as much as I can to learn what I can and this site keeps popping up, so I thought why not join.
I seem to have some goodies already in my pile of engine parts;
Screaming Eagle 3 Cam
Vance and Hines 2into1 exhaust
Don't know what else, but I continue to decipher the rest of the pile of parts.
I am an engineer and I like working on stuff with motors, so I figured I should be able to get this thing back together and running.
