hello my fellow Harley riders im looking forward to chatting with you all . a little bit about me I bought my first motorcycle in 1986 aged 16 then 10 years ago I bought a 1987 xl 883 and a year later I bought a 1985 1340 evo . I sold the 883 and I still have the same evo ever since and I have no intention of ever selling it . I enjoy riding it too much . its pretty much stock except for a cv carb from a 1999 I fitted a couple of years ago .
its got kind of open pipes but not straight trough still got the balance pipe and all I also fitted a k and n air filter . I got a needle from a 1988 sportster 1200 and a 165 main jet to go in the carb taking out the 180 main its got the 45 pilot jet . so im going to pop off the cap over the idle mixture screw and back it out 2 1/2 turns . im going to drill the slide one size down from 1/8 and clip a turn and 1/2 off the spring . and then i'm hoping its going to pull like an orange blossom special
it runs ok now but not a lot of power so I had been riding it pretty easy since . to be honest I hadn't rode it a lot since I fitted the carb probably less than 1000 miles as I have another bike too that i ride all year round . but in the next few weeks I will tune up the old evo and take it on some good all day long rides .
I don't usually bother takeing it out unless im going a long ways . it's my touring bike well my other bike is a touring bike too but my Harley is my grand tourer / pride and joy / passion in life . I even got a Harley Davidson tattoo on my arm . I wanted a Harley for over 30 years im lucky I made my dream come true and im so glad I did I have enjoyed every mile I rode on it . no other bike has quite hit the spot . ride safe everyone and roll on summer 2014 .
