New from Memphis
I have been watching and learning from the forums for some time now decided to post and share some of my experiences since I had learned so much you all. Greatful for all the knowledge learned.
Had purchased a 2012 Ultra Limited new in 2012. Road it awhile until the new 2014's came out. Then traded for the 14 on what the Dealer said was a "retail for retail" program. It was a good dead for me and I went for it. Here is what I did to the 12:
Hammock seat
Riders backrest
578 WO bars
SE air cleaner
SE mufflers
SE pro tuner (programmed a stage 1)
HD upgraded rear shocks
Tourpack mounted amplifier w/all four upgraded speakers
A variety of bling stuff
When I traded for the 14 I was able to remove all and put on the 14 except the stereo amp & speakers. I did remove them but they won't work with the new bike. I did not install the SE air cleaner or mufflers.
The SE Pro Tuner does communicate with the 14 (I had to buy the new style cables) and could monitor engine and electrical values. I could even change some settings but when I went into the programming screen it said (this vcu has been married to another ecm) so I have limited use for it.
The 14 runs so well the way it is, I doubt that I will do any more with it anyway. The HD upgraded shocks really helped and of course I couldn't do without my Hammock seat, WO578 bars or backrest.
My biggest gripe was not being able to hear the radio at 70mph. I started thinking about the sound system and realized that the wind noise (no buffeting, just noise) was partly to blame.
I purchased and installed the 15 inch stock Harley windshield and problem solved. Now I can hear the radio fine. No more wind noise. I won't have to deal with upgrading the sound system ($998.99).
Sorry for the long post but I am loving the new ride. I can't stay off of it.
regards.
