I just want to introduce myself, I've spent most of my life on Sports bikes, doing track days and generally racing around the UK and Europe on the latest Race Replica. About 6 or seven years ago I started to get an interest in the custom cruiser type bikes, mainly Bobbers.
I started with a Japanese jobbie to test the waters with myself (as they are much cheaper to buy in the UK). So I bought a VN800 and got to making it how I wanted. It went through many changes over the years to finally get where I wanted it. I've included a couple of picture below just to show you what I mean (hope that's OK on a HD forum), so a before and after shot:
This really gave me the bug and I decided before Christmas last year that I was ready to do this properly and buy a Harley. I was adamant I wanted an early EVO Softail, I love the layout of the machine with the hidden shocks and just how they sit. Plus I think the EVO is a good motor to start with.
These fetch good money here so it took a while but I ended up finding one which was a complete snotter! It looked a mess covered head to toe in rough matt black engine paint! But under all of that classy mix was a well set up engine with potential. I have been messing with this now for about 8 months and still got a very long way to go, which is why I've come here. I'm hoping for advice and tips to make my life with HD's be a good one.

Welcome from the UK, your a man of vision looking at the bike you bought, wouldn't have touched that with a barge poll, looks nice now though, what are the internals like ? Evo's are bullet proof, but there is a limit to that.
