I have a 2005 Softail Deluxe with the original 16" spoke wheels. The chrome is coming off the front rim. My question is what would be the best route to take. Re- chroming might not be an option. I have found some aftermarket wheels for $150 and some bare rims for $100. I would like to keep it stock looking. My concern is putting an after market wheel on and having it fly apart at 80mph. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If it is only the rim that is losing its chrome, simply have your current wheel rebuilt with a new rim. A new genuine Harley one might be a bit expensive, but there are wheel specialists out there who can probably offer you options.
