Default Spoke Thread Pitch

I think that my stock H-D spokes have a thread pitch of M4x0.80
At first I thought it was 32 threads per inch but the 10x32 tap and die was too big and the 8x32 was too small. I really don't think there is a 9x32 but there also doesn't seem to be a M4x0.80.
I have a set of spokes from an aluminum 17" rim that I want to use on a steel 17" rim but the spokes are a little too long. They are about 7-3/8"/187mm.
I was hoping to just cut the threads in a little with a die but that isn't looking like a viable option.

I think the M in the size is metric. Try some metric thread gages.

I was able to count the threads. There were 20 threads on the spoke and that measured 16mm. 16 divided by 20 is .80.
There is a M4x0.70 but doesn't seem to be a M4x0.80.

Do you happen to know what thread pitch these spokes have?
Is it just an odd ball proprietary thread pitch?

Did you just make that up?
I could have been off a thread or two on my count but the major diameter of the threads is 4.30mm. How could that be 4.5?

Most good tap and die sets have thread gauges. They will tell you what thread pitch even if you only grab a few threads
