Default Mid 90's 16x3 Fatboy Front Wheel on 2005 Fatboy?

A friend of mine gave me a nice 16x3 twisted 40 spoke front wheel that he ran on his mid 90's Fatboy a few years back. The local dealership says the older wheel will not work on my 2005 Fatboy, that the older front ends are a lot different than the later ones. Are they just trying to sell me a wheel, or is this true? Would I be better off with a new wheel?

the differences I know of are: the 90's used tapered bearings an 2000 up used sealed...either will work on you bike but might require different wheel spacers. The other thing is the centering ring the rotor rides on is smaller on the 90's wheels so you need a matching rotor. also the torque spec may be different due to the different style of bearing. I believe the front wheel spec is 50 pound feet. also, those timken tapered bearings can be greased so pack them before installing them.
