Default Which tire

I am stuck between Dunlop American Elite, Metzeler 888 or Mich Commander II......Which would be the best for mileage. Rear tire, ultra classic

I have ridden on both Dunlop and Michelin and would go with the Dunlops.

My experience with Michelin and Dunlop was about equal. My riding style is all about cruising, if you like to burn rubber more then the results may differ?

It is all a compromise-You want great wear and no traction just when you need it?
I want the traction

I changed to Commander II's front and back from the stock Dunlops at 17,000 miles. The stock rear was worn almost to the wear bars and had some cupping develop that made it really noisy. The front was OK but I wanted to have new front and back the same brand. I now have 18k miles on these and the rear still has ~3/32 tread left in the center with no cupping. This has been lots of highway miles (probably 12-13k interstate) between the midwest and the east coast, but I have ridden lots of twisty roads on my travels as well (dragon, Cherohala, BRP, pig trail, etc.). I am not a real aggressive rider, but not afraid to scrape boards. Traction has been good enough for me, wet or dry. More traction generally means a softer compound that wears faster, and I would have had to replace tires at least once by now, maybe twice. Overall, I am happy with them and will replace the rear soon with another Commander II.
