Had a new front tire installed today. While spinning the front wheel when I got home, I heard an unusual noise and a few minutes later I found a snap ring laying under my bike. 2012 FLHTK.. I suppose it popped off the axle, but I dont know where it goes. Is a bearing or something gonna fall out if I try to ride it back and have them fix it, or do I need to do it at home before riding it, to prevent damage..or worse?
Is it really from the rear axle? It looks like there’s a flat spot on both sides at the end of the rear axle (on the right side) where this clip might be from. It’s one inch in diameter. That would be pretty coincidental if it boinked off the rear when I was working on the front . Cuz I was spinning and hosing off the front wheel when I heard it ping and rattle off. I guess there’s more of a chance of it making that noise with the muffler right there. If it came off the front, there’s not much to rattle against.
So for sure, it’s the rear axle nut e clip?
