Default Inner tube damage

I'm changing my rear tire today and the inner tube looks like it was pinched or folded up when it was aired up. It kind of made my *** pucker when I saw it. I'm new to this and planned on replacing the tube anyway but it seems like a problem.

This has been covered in several threads recently ... Yes you were fortunate to not have a failure with that tube ... Some talcum powder ( Not Johnson & Johnson ) and some air in the tube during installation ( just enough to keep its shape will help ) ... Once together I like to deflate the tube ( remove the valve core ) then slowly reinflate ... Others will recommend different procedures ... Good luck Rusty

Thanks for the tips Larry. I had some talc here and just got back from the road test. I pretty much used the same method. Seated the bead, let it down to around 5 psi and bounced it a few times as I aired it back up.

Out of curiosity, was that tube sized properly for your rear?

Yes it was. That tire was also installed by the local dealership before I bought the bike in October.

I'll second Uncle Larry's method. Not that many people out there know how to properly install tubes.
