So I was rebuilding the hubs on the front and rear wheel of a 1976 FXE and I installed a bearing race in the rear wheel backwards... After breaking many tools I finally got the fu**er out with a dremel but I damaged the inside of the hub pretty bad in the process. Does anyone think this damage is bad enough to be structural? I want to just throw another race in there and run the wheel but I'm looking for a second opinion. Thanks.
hummmmmm?????
steel cup and aluminum hub with diff expansion rates. do not see this happening and lordy do not hit the hub with the arc.
it would be better to use the dremel to cut a groove at the upper rim and the use a expanding puller. but if the new race fits tight then go for it. seen WAY worst carnage.
@Harley_ish That's what I used to get the 4 old races out, with a little heat it worked great. Wouldn't work when the race was installed backward no matter how much heat I used
