Trying to run a front Invader I just got. Will need larger bearings for the 3/4 axle but doesnt have any internal spacers or anything.
Are there bearing kits out there that includes spacers for inside the spool? Or am I going to have to make the spacers based on the spool width? Talking about the spacer in the spool and not wheel spacers. Last chop I used a new Low Brow wheel that was already set up so this is new territory.
I assume the distance between bearing race "seats" to be less on the Invader than the OE hub ?
I`d buy the H-D spacer and cut to fit
( 3/4" black iron pipe is .820 ID and 1.050 OD So that`s a "maybe" , you need to measure )
Correct. The mini spool width is 3 1/4" I believe. So if I subtract the width of both bearings/races & the end play, that would be the length of the spacer. I've never had to do this before so I wonder if there are spacer kits or if it would be a custom job.
It's all custom - chopped a '71 FX. Nothing is stock on the front end other than the 35mm lowers. Ultra narrow trees, +8 35mm forks, ultra narrow 3/4 axle and an old 17" Invader mini spool wheel. It currently has (1) 3/4" sealed bearing installed but there's no internal spacer.
You need to know the required space between the bearings, keep in mind that one bearing probably is pressed all the way against a shoulder in the hub, but the second bearing you install will not be pressed against a shoulder.

Sorry the illustration is so big...
Here's what I came up with.
I believe the HD tolerance for endplay is 0.014, so if I split that and subtract the other widths - I come up with a 2.236" spacer?
