Ok here is the issue, I bought a wheel off an 10 WG to put on the rear of my Deuce. The problem I'm running into is that the new 1" wheel bearings are only 15mm wide not the old 21 or 22mm what ever they are. Do any of you guys know if anyone makes a 3/4"x52mmx15mm bearing so I can get this to work? Or any other ideas would help.
Check the Harley Davidson Catalog for a wheel bearing kit. It will contain the bearings, a shim to go behind the narrow bearing and an internal tubular bearing spacer.
Ok here is the deal, the rotor side is shallow .750 and the pulley side is deeper .825. So how the hell do they set bearing depth when the bearings are only .590 thick. When I tore it apart there was no shims only bearings and a spacer. Someone please explain.
I have only done wheels up to 2008 and this is how they are done.
The bearing is pressed into the shallow bore first, then the internal spacer is put into the hub and the other bearing is pressed in until it makes contact with the internal spacer. Install the wheel and torque the axle and bearings are set when the shallow bearing is captured between the axle shoulder and the wheel bore.
Don't know how to help you out with the shallow side of the wheel. You could press a bushing into the 25mm bearing to reduce it to 3/4". As for the deeper bore the stock 3/4" bearing should fit as is.
