I have an 09 FXSTC, the other day I had dropped back from the group and while catching back up at about 75mph I noticed a slight wobble on the front end. When I got home I checked the pressure and it was dead on 30lbs. So, I was wondering if this is a characteristic of the small tire or what else could it be? It felt almost like a buffeting from a windshield which I dont have. Thanks
I don't know what a softtail needs, but my electraglide classic takes 38-40 pounds depending on load. I'd say your wobble came from an underinflated tire. Check your owners guide.
Did the road have rain grooves??? If so, they can cause the sensation you describe. If it was really a front end wobble though, some things to check are tire pressure, tire wear, tire balance, fall-away (stearing head bearing adjustment), spokes (if you have wire wheels), alignment, and make sure the wheels are true both latterally and vertically).
have you found the solution?? i also have a wobble at 65mph and i noticed it when i put my apes on and i dont think it is b/c of the apes any suggestions??
You guys are freaking me out with all this wobble talk. I just bought my first harley and have not taken delivery yet. I do not want to spend a ton of money on a bike that rides like crap.

I think I may have answered this question elsewhere on HDF. Your apes are the source of your problem. You are now sitting more upright and as speed increases so does the wind pressure on you. The buffetting gets transferred by your arms back into the bars, hence the wobble. Try to reduce your grip on the bars and see if it goes away. If it does you have your answer!

You are reading too much! Buy your bike and enjoy it, just be careful when modifying it that you chose wisely what you do to it. The people who post on HDF are a tiny number compared with the total of Harley owners. If you do suffer any problems, which is unlikely, you have a warranty to fall back on.
brought it to the local wrench here and he took off the front tire rebalanced it and added front and rear air pressure and it seems to be fine hopefully it stays like this lol.
he also checked the bearings in the neck and fall away he said they were fine hope this helps and if anyone found another solution please let us know
