Default 150-80x16 front tire

Anyone run a 150-80x16 front tire? I picked up a hub and 3" rim I'm putting on my '05 Wide Glide (no front fender). I dropped it off last week to have a Dunlop 150-80x16 front tire put on, now I see Dunlop recommends a 3.50" rim for this tire. Any of you guys run a tire this big on a 3" rim? Avon apparently calls for 3" to 4.5" for the same size, so I'm hoping the Dunlop will be cool. Especially since I already paid for it. If any of you have tried this combination, how did it handle? The stock 21" has been on there for the first 36K miles (well, 3 of them have, anyway), but I'm hoping to stop the front end from following rain grooves and that sort of stuff quite so bad. Been quite a while now but it seems like my old shovel handled OK with both tires the same size. And based on the price, I'm guessing this is going to be a 404 series. But a WG isn't as heavy as a dresser or road king, so maybe the lower load rating won't be an issue if the rim width isn't. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.
