Default 21" or 23" front????

I have a custom 2000 RK and am in the process of ordering wheels for it. I like the look of the 23 but have been told that it throws off the geometry of the bike and does not ride well but a 21 is fine..... Anyone out there have any experience with this???

THANKS!

We have a 23" on our shop 09 Street Glide. We had to make some mods to the fork internals and add a different fender in order to allow the bike to be ridden without the crash bar or lower triple tree hitting the wrapped fender we also used that allows a bit more clearance.

We used some extra heavy fork oil and the progressive mono tube fork kit to stiffen up the front end but you still have to be careful on driveways and large potholes and or bumps. A better way to do this is to rake the front end by adding raked triple trees. Were it my biek that I ride daily I would opt for the 21" wheel as I feel that the bike rides a little difference.

The main issue with a larger wheel aside from the added diameter is that the larger rolling mass feels a bit heavier. It is pretty easy to get used to but for a daily rider I'd opt for a 21". If your bike is more of a showbike then go for the 23". A lot of people who to 23"'s also like to eliminate one of the front brake discs so that you can see all of the 23" wheel. For a daily driver I would not do this but it is really nice to be able to see the entire wheel. Here is a quick video of the SG I am talking about with the single disc and our Vapor wheel in a 23".

Thanks for the response. That's kind of what I was thinking. I am looking for a black 50ish fat spoke 21" for the front. Any suggestions on where to buy? Best prices?

We sell them. What parts of the wheel do you want black? Rim, hub, spokes and nipples are your options.
