I have always used stock Dunlops on my 2002 RK. I was getting about 6k on a rear tire so this summer I went with the Avon Venom on the rear. I went to the widest tire I could use, 140/90/B16 and I stuck with the white walls.
So after 800 miles, I must say, AWESOME tire! It took a bit to get adjusted to a 44-46 psi for solo. But that is what Avon recommended for a 230lb guy.
Ride is great, curves are so much easier and the bike feels like it grips so much better now. The tire looks nice and I cannot wait to get one on the front.
I know I am saying the same thing others said here on the forum, but that is why I research here first.
Another Avon fan here! I've owned Harleys since the 70s and always go back to them. If you have a later narrow belt, you should be able to get a 150/80 in.
