Bad Front Bearing, Replace as a Pair?

I had a bearing failure this morning, I had to run an errand for my wife in the next county so I thought I would take a ride before it got to 100 degrees. I heard a popping noise in the front while I was chasing down a BMW and slowed down to listen closer. When I started to speed back up, it started popping and squeaking so I slowed and hit the front brakes, thats when I felt the vibration and the fork started to wobble. One hour later it was loaded on an roll back headed to my dealer. They are closed on Sundays, so I will get with them in the morning. I had no idea that this is a common failure. My HOG membership paid the first $100.00 on the tow bill. Will the extened warranty pay the difference? The tow company hit me for anohter $130.00 for a 50 mile run.

Check the number on the NEW bearing from HD
Don't know about the towing.
Make SURE that your HD shop uses the New bearing 9276A out in 2012 models
the "A" after the 9276 HD part tells you that "change" has been made.
The bearing number with the 9276 "A" is supposed to be IMPROVED.
Maybe they put Grease into it this time..
There have been a lot of failures on the bearings...
Not sure of What was done to improve the 9276 bearing ? vendor? but I'm putting in "A's" when my front tire is replaced next week or so...
Probably will do the rear myself as the tire is 60% yet.
45,000 on my 09 King and getting a little worried about Mine.

the SKF are a fine replacement #6205 2RSJEM

Good info Red. Checking my work order thankfully they did use a 9276A on the right side, which was the one that failed. If the bike has ABS the left side uses a different bearing. In my case they used a 9252, no "A".

Reviving an old thread instead of lazily starting a new one. So with ABS we are stuck with the Harley factory bearing on the left? I'd like to use SKF, Timkin, or some other reputable bearing.
