Default Desert Tires?

I have recently moved to the Las Vegas area. Needless to say, it is hotter than hell out here, and the roads of course, are very hot. I'm used to the northeast & have experienced cold tire & road loss of traction an expected when I got here that the tires would stick like glue. Probably wear out quickly, but be sticky. Well, the opposite is true! I don't know the reason, but traction SUCKS! I run Metzeler ME 880's on my Road King, and have been very happy with them. Been running them for probably 50,000 of the 80,000 miles on the bike. But I am now wondering if there's a better tire for these road conditions. I slipped and slid through a low speed, but board-dragging turn yesterday, pushed the front tire and fishtailed the back & was only going maybe 20 mph! What gives?? Anyone know what tires work well in this area and on these roads? Not all the roads are city, Las Vegas roads, I work in the California desert, and the slippery turn was an access road from the project site to Route 15... Any suggestions welcome!

Nobody? Are there no forum members who live in CA or NV or maybe AZ who can give their tire experience?

I recently switched to Dunlop Elite3 tires & was very pleased with grip & price compared to Avon Venoms I had run for years. Only have a few thou. on them but wear looks good so far. It's not as hot as Vegas here but it gets damn hot in summer.

Check the parking lot of any of the local biker bars, see what they are running. I know there are a few LV clubs, you could ask them.
