Default 200+ Rear on a 2011 Softail

greetings all

been a long time reader here & have just bought a 2011 FLSTN

i have several upgrades in mind & hoping that i can arrange all the parts required prior to the bike arriving here

i want to fit a larger tyre to the rear & am hoping to be able to fit atleast a 200 on the rear & hope the swingarm can accomadate it, can anybody confirm if the swingarm on the Delux is the same as a Fatboy

i also plan to fit a 21" wheel to the front

the bike has ABS & am hopeing that it wont be an issue

regards
Rod

The rear swing arms are different. A co-worker has a 2011 Deluxe and I have a 2007 Softail Custom.

The 200mm wide swing arms are usually for sale on ebay rather cheap... but that is only the start of the conversion.

The primary will need to be offset (or some other way to move the transimission pulley out further.) HD did use a different inner primary with the 200mm tire bikes. The rear fender and belt drive will probably need to be addressed as well. You will also need a wider rim to fit a 200mm tire.

The good thing is that HD did this on softails so you maybe able to find all used parts off ebay or other places.

Default Wide Tire kits...

Hey Rod, yea... as was mentioned, the swing arms are not the same. We carry some wide tire kits but they are quite pricey to swap it over and I don't know what your budget is. Also... The 21" wheel won't be a problem, you still will want to check the clearances on your fender but it should be completely fine. And... if you get harley aftermarket wheels, you can get the ABS bearings installed with pretty much any wheel you decide to go with and they will work.

Let us know if there is anything we can help with!

thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated

since my initial post i have done a little more research & the swingarm is the same part number as used on a Fatboy with a 200mm tire, the issue appears to be the fender

i was thinking to split the fender through its length & make it wider & use the Fatboy fender struts so i could fit a 200 Tire, it was also sugested to me to use the Fatboy fender & lenghten it to look like the fender of the Deluxe

i want to keep the So-cal look with a little bit of a wider tire on the rear & after looking at a Fatboy & a Deluxe side by side i thing the fender of the Fatboy is to wide for the look i am wanting to acchive so may need to stick with the standard Deluxe rear fender

can i fit anything wider that a 150 on an 18" rim under the factory Deluxe fender ?

regards
Rod

The widest rear tire that will fit under your stock fender would be a 160 on a 18 x 4.25 wheel.
