Default How often do axles require grease?

Hey all I have an 01 wide glide i picked up a few months back, it has just shy of 5,000 miles. I have already changed all 3 holes and the fluids looked good. My question is how often should the axles be lubed? I do not have an owners manual but am planing on picking one up. I have already logged a few hundred miles, but do not want to keep riding if axles need maintenence. Took me 42 years to get a Harley and want to do all I can to have it last a few years. Can someone advise me?

Thanks.

Uh WRONG.

I can't tell you how many times we beat axles out of their bearings just to do a simple tire change for a customer.

You don't have to do anything now, but when you do pull the axle for a tire change or whatever, give it a little anti seize so that the next time it'll slide right out for you.

And yes the bearings are sealed and require no maintenance.

I put grease every time I pull the axle or every tire change.

+ 1 The last time I changed my front tire, I had a terrible time getting the axle out. When I put it in with the new tire and wheel, I made sure I had anti seize on the axle. I only do this with tire change or pulling the wheel.

Technically correct just a little anti seize at each tire change goes a long ways.
