Default first brake pad change

I did the pads for the first time on my new to me softail yesterday and I'm smelling the rear brakes this morning on my way into work. Normal during break-in? Or do I need to take it apart and clean the caliper pistons?

If they aren't dragging, probably just the fuzz on the pads burning off. But if they are dragging, I would take them apart again buy some spray brake cleaner and wash everything out. I hope you didn't use a screw drive to pry the pistons back into the calliper. Might need to put a little grease on the pins to help them slide.,,

Sure did. Tried my best not to score the disk or pistons, but it's all Ihad. Did I just screw this up? I didn't notice the smell at all when I went tobreak them in yesterday, but after my 55 mile ride to work today I could definitelysmell it. I don’t notice anything dragging.

I’m used to working on my truck, not a bike. Trying to learn this as I go.
