I have a 2010 Softail Custom with 6000 +- miles I have Dunlop 200/57R 17 on the back and Dunlop MH 90/ 21 on the front. What is a good idea as to tread depth before I think about replacing my tires?????
I ride a 2012 Road Glide Ultra ,looking at a tire change soon. Does any one have any feed back on the Michelin Commander II.. for use on touring bikes like this ...
Hi JT and welcome to HDF from the UK. There are two answers to your question! One is that your tyres have wear bars down in the treads, at various locations around the tyre and you should replace them when they have worn down that far. You will still have just a little tread left.
However the other answer is that you will probably find your tyres start misbehaving before the tread depth gets that low. You may feel the bike is no longer riding as well as it used to, perhaps making the bike wobble in bends, or on wet roads it feels downright unpleasant. That is a great time to replace them, so you can continue to enjoy your bike at its best.
