Wink When to reTire?

Rear tire on my softail getting a little slick. Don't know exactly how many miles I have on both tires. When should you reTire to be safe and what price range are we looking at? Is it ok to get one tire first then get the other tire a short time later as in a couple of weeks?

You should get new tires when it is needed and not mileage dependent. Most times I change two rears to one front tire, so to answer your question it is okay to get one then the other at another time.

I had what I thought was enough left until a buddy noticed that the metal cord was showing thru, so check the whole tire and not just one spot.

We don't get any rain out here so I run em till they look like racing slicks. You don't need to swap them both if they don't both need it. I always got around 6k before the dunlops were bald, i'd push them to 7-8k sometimes.

Thanks unk had a friend of mine had a blowout on rear tire said he was doing about 70 mph. Said it took everything he had to shut her down and this was one big dude too! Just get a little paranoid about blowouts after hearing that,

I don't know but I have almost 15,000 on my Dunlop 402's on my 99 Softail Custom, and I am not to the wear bars yet. Both are worn about the same. I will probably get another 1,000 out of them and then change them both.
