Default EVO Air Cleaner

I have a round air cleaner cover from an 80 Cubic Inch bike. it has the brushed stainless or aluminum panel on the outside. The round brushed panel is in pretty bad shape. The rest if very nice. Does anyone know if this panel can be removed and the chrome under it polished? I tried using a hair drier for awhile but it wouldn't budge. I know I can buy a decorative cover to hide the brushed part, but I'd like to remove it if possible. Thanks

In addition to the hair dryer, try WD-40 or Goo Gone to soften the glue (which can be tough stuff!). The chrome under the panel should be bright.

OneBlackFly.....Thanks for the post. I had tried Goo gone, but I guess i didn't let it sit long enough. I tired it again and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Finally got one inside edge up and from there it was off to the races. Used the same Goo Gone and some WD 40 to get the remianing glue off. You were right, all is shiney in chrome town. I had the elongated Screamin' Eagle cover on before and reallyb like the look of the round cover. Shows much more of the engine.

Glad it worked. And, the round look matches that of the round timing cover below it. I just use the round trim cover on my Twin Cam (unless I take a long trip when I use the 'football' cover). The round cover just looks better to me.

Next time take your butane or propane torch and heat the inside of the air cleaner cover. The foam tape will break down fast and you will have it off in a flash.
