Default help with turn signal relocation

Has anyone put the front turn signal relocation on an 06 or 07 wide glide. I've looked at the directions and they are 4 pages long, and includes taking off the gas tank. I am just curious if it is as hard as the directions seem to be or once you get started it isnt too bad. Thanx.

If you want to do it the "proper" way. You would do the following:

1) remove bolt in front of tank
2) remove seat and bolt under seat holding tank on
3) remove fuel pump fuse, start bike and when it dies, run starter for 3 seconds, disconnect ground cable from battery)
4) remove quick connect fuel line from coupling (push up on coupling then pull line down on fuel line)
5) slide tank back
6) remove grommets from either side of frame neck
7) remove plastic shield under frame at front under neck
8) find connector with turn signal wires
9) remove wires from connectors
10) remove turn signal wires from inside mesh cover that is routed along bars
11) remove turn signals from bars and relocate to new spot
12) plug wires back into connectors, connect ground to battery to make sure everything works
13) put connectors and other wires back into backbone
14) put shield back in place
15) put grommets back in frame neck, and then slide tank back up and put seat on
16) Done!

Did mine about 6 months back. Your list looks good.

It's a pain in the *** and looks like crap when you are done. The freakin stems are so long, that they make your turns signals look like crab eyes on some primordal bug.

Google the Kuryakyn 49 mm turn signal clamps. That is what I and many others here have used, and they look a whole hell of a lot better.

The link I posted at the top shows a step by step of my apehanger install, which includes moving turn signals and kuryakyn 49mm fork mounts.

the tricky part is how to get the wires coming off the back of the lamp to look good on their way to the frame/under the tank.

Hey thebestofindicaDo you have any close up shots of how you have your wires routed? I scrolled through that other post, but I don't think I saw any. I would be curious to see what you have done

its a hard picture to take cuze everything is black, but here is how I did mine. You can see the two wires that come from the back of the lamps... I pulled them straight back behind the lower triple tree, and then zipped them together. From there I zipped every few inches, routing the wire back up under the tank

For the kuryakyn mounts? I basically did what you have done. There is no real clean way to hide that wire. I suppose you could slide them up even with the headlight and camouflage the turn signal wires with those?!

no, mine came from Drag Specialties. I think they are all the same, the only thing that is different is the clam shell system varies a little, and the stem lenght varies, from manufacturer to manufacturer.
either way, I think any solution you are left with those wires to do something with.
I don't think my solution looks bad. From a couple feet from the bike you cant even really tell..

I was just curious what you did - to see if there was some trick I didn't think of.

Well,... I used the kuryakyn mounts and I wanted a cleaner overall look so I cut and soldered the wires and then went and coverd the wires before I reconnected them with some crome braded wireing covering that you can get at autozone or oreilleys. I think it gave it a much better overall look than just the black wires hanging down.
