Default Superglide risers from JP cycles

I just got my Dyna risers from JP cycles. I wanted a no hassle way to bring back my handlebars a couple inches. They are advertised to fit 1984-2007 Dynas. Well they DO NOT FIT 2006 SUPERGLIDES. In fact, the directions from the manufacturer say they fit 2005 and earlier Dyna models. yet JP has them listed in the catalog as fitting up to year 2007.

Do not waste your time and money if you have a 2006 or later Superglide. They interfere with the speedo housing. I will be returning them. What a PIA. I'm going to look into plan B, where I try and mount the Road King Custom handlebars to my bike. They have a lot of pullback and I don't have to mess with the speedo housing.

JP part #501-845

That isa shame they don't work. They look like they would offer a great solution to the riser issues a lot of us Super Glide owners are faced with.

Also, I hate taking a reaming for specialized parts. I don't see anything about those risers which would justify them costing three times as much as standard risers.

WhoIS the manufacturer of those risers? Maybe it should be a clue that J&P says they fit Dynas back to 1984...Dynas weren't introduced until 1991. Hope J&P makes it right with you, including shipping charges.
Welcome to the hit or miss aftermarket world.

I've run into similar issues with some other parts from them as well as other sellers - it might be that they work for some models of Dynas but not yours - if tru, it's a pity they don't spend the time to specify model applications.

Got an email from JP cycles last week. They are charging me a restocking fee! WTF? I emailed them and complained, the response I got was that they have to go by the fitment given to them by the manufacturer. I emailed back to them that the instructions included in the riser kit says made for Dynas 1984-2005. I have a 2006, and the JP cycles catalog listed it for Dynas up to 2007. I have not heard back from them yet, but as it stnds right now I'm getting shafted for about $30. I'm gonna be calling them soon if I dont get any satisfaction.

I just installed 4" straight risers ( HD ) cost over $100.00 and did not say they fit my '07 superglide but they do! I have to get some pics up asap, I will, but they are a nice alternative to different handlebars. I pulled on my cables a little, and straightened my brake line and they fit fine. With the 2" tank lift from jackyl,it looks good. Don't try pull-backrisers! The speedo takes a weird turn toward you for the worse!

When you say they interfer with the speedo housing, what do you mean exactly? From the picture, it looks like the front of the riser would hit the bottom of the two piece speedo housing. If that's true, why not use a die grinder and make them fit?

What interferes is the back of the speedo housing, the cover that screws on. Also, the location of the screws for the back cover were in a bad position relative to the risers. Yes, being a machinist I could have machined them to fit. However, since they were a total of just over $200 including shipping, I did not feel I should have to make them fit nor did I want to screw up the chrome plating only to have to send it out to re-plate it.

The good news is that JP emailed me today and made good on a full refund. They thanked me for pointing out the problem and I think in future catalogs it will be corrected. Maybe the manufacturer will change the design?

Just how much did they bring back your handlebars?

As far as I know - the speedo housing on the 2005 SG is identical to housing on the 2006 SG. This is the one single component that changed between model years 2004 and 2005. The 2005 style carried over to 2006.

I guess what I'm trying to say is - if they didn't fit 2006 they won't fit 2005 either.
