Default FRAME WELD MISSING?

I've had this strange knocking feeling on my footrests since I rode my bike for the first timea month ago and mentioned it in this forum, but never got any replies. I decided to take a closer look now that I was re-tightening everything I could and it's when I noticed this very rare fact that I want you to take a look and tell me if it is normal or not. My FXDC 07has a frame part where the jiffy stand is fixed and where both my footrests arebolted. To my understanding and as a steel structural expert I cannot see or understad why would H-D leave this part without fully welding it.
Please take a look at pics 1, 2 & 3 in http://imageevent.com/wforest/dynasuperglidecustom and tell me what you think. More than that, if you have the same FXDC 07 as mine please check your bikes and tell me if yours is the same. Basically I would have thought this part should be fully welded to the main frame lower tubes. I don't believe the knocking felt on the footrests is due to this, but if as I firmly believe there is some welding missing I would like to inform H-D about this immediately. Rust is already starting in this non welded part, but strength is what worries me most.

Same on my 06 FXDBI, welded front and not rear. I noticed the rust a month or so after delivery and touched it in with Hamerite.

Thanks for the input, but I wonder if either of you feel the same thing I do when going over mild to heavy bumps on the road, a kind of "cluck" felt on your feet, specially the right foot (opposite to the stand). It is driving me nuts!
Wonder why they would leave that part without welding. I will scrape off the little rust and put some touch-up paint; least I can do.....

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll be welding mine once I have the bike up. Probably more like a couple of good spots per side surrounded with heat dam so I don't blister the paint. Bad robot! [sm=bustedsign.gif]

Check the rubber bumper for the jiffy stand, mine was out of place
causing the clunk in the foot rests.

Hi ClarkFXDC, That rubber stop was the first thing I rotated because it was in the wrong position, but that did not improve that knocking feeling. I have found however the rear rubber engine mount rather lose; I tightened all the bottom ones, but haven´t tried the bike since. I will however wrap the sidestand tie the sidestand with a strap against the rubber stop just to discard it as the cause of my problem. (I'll have my wife waiting with a pair of scissors when I get back from the test trip....
Thanks again,

Take a close look at the rear motor mount. The bolt closest to the rear tire on the mount look at the tranny case right below it.You will see the tranny case is no longer a perfect coner it is comimg back and hitting the frame and knocking the coners off. Took mine to the dealer and they are waiting on harley to get back to them. Nothing they can do to fix it these motors are rubber mounted and will move back and forth and the tranny case hits the frame. Im going to see what they say. There is not enough clearance for the tranny case to go back in the frame. I think i can fix this problem but i am going to wait and see what they say.

Thanks for the info 96inchBob; even though it is midnight in this part of the world, I'm going straight away to the garage to take a look. I'll try and take some pics if at all possible. Please keep us informed about how you deal with the problem.
Did you also have tha strange knocking feeling down under?
