Damm right I amsoooo PISSED !
I have an 07 Ultra bought 4 new hogtune speakers for it before I even bought the bike.
Because I had them on my 98 Classic and loved them. Well he came out with a new
setup for adding speakers in the Lowers. Well me loving LOUD music and all I just
HAD TO have it ! Well I sold my set of 2 ohm front speakers so I can use his 4 ohm
ones in the front top fairing and another 4 ohm set in the Lower fairings. This way I
can use his Amp to run these four (for better Bass responce) and the radio to power the
back 2 speakers. Now you ask WHY am I soooo pissed ?
Because he made the install so damm friggin IDIOT proof !
This is America he can't just do THAT because he is Canadian !
He even ANSWERED his phone when I had a DUMB question to ask.
What's up with THAT ! No machine voice to listen to or some stupid music while
you wait HOURS for customer service. How dare he pick up the phone after the 1st ring !
I tried my darnest to screw up the install but to no avail. Figuring I know how to run power
to the battery ... no problem ... Harley always makes you bust your ***** by running it UNDER
the tank ... so I did. I then read Pez's instructions and it says to do it the EASY way ....
Run it under the tank console. How dare Pez make it so easy ...it's un-American.
Ok so I'll change it to Pez's way later since Harley made it a P.I.A. to remove battery.
Ohh ... my DUMB question i had to call Pez about. His speaker wires are labeled + and -
I think which one is which on the speaker ? So I call Pez .... He laughs and says look at
terminal sizes. I do and see one is smaller than the other so it can only go ONE WAY ! DUH ....
OK I thank him and go back to install. Top section goes well and now I am EXCITED to hear the lower
speakers so I just attach the wires while the lower speakers are in their shipping container. Power on the
radio and they sound just OK but not all that loud. I think OK maybe they will sound better when installed.
Well another DUH moment ..... As I start the lower install I read the DIRECTIONS ..... I take speakers apart
to mount the mounting bracket to the lower fairings and see the is a piece of CARDBOARD between speaker
& grill (for shipping purposes). I think I found out WHY the speakers weren't impressing me ... DUH ....
OK on with theinstall for the Lower's speakers.Started with the brake side and run the wires into the lower's
then button that side up and now proceed with the clutch side. Well I run the wires and HAPPEN to read the
piece of paper Pez attachs to all wires saying where they go. It says BRAKE SIDE ....ARRRGGGGG ! ! !
OK so I am dumber than a CAVEMAN ! I was just so excited about finding the cardboard I forgot to look
at the wire I ran .... LOL ..... I figure no problem I'll just swap it at the Y-connector at where it meets the
engine guard. NOPE .... Pez already firgured that IF you take off the Lower's you may not remember which
one went where so he made one side a female connector and the other a male connector.
Come on now Pez .... You GOTTA let me screw it up SOME HOW .... Damm I am trying soo hard !
So I take the brake side apart and route the wires the RIGHT way. On to the Clutch side again and
now REALLY excited about getting finished and listening to it ..... Run the wires, mount the bracket
and mount the speaker. Now for the final step ! Put on the Lower fairing cap on the clutch side.
WTF ... holes don't line up ? DUH ....
Ran wires thru one of the mounting holes instead of the hole Pez has you drill ! ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH .......
Yes dumber than dumb .... Run the wire right and FINALLY every thing is buttoned up and ready
for the FINAL test ! Power up the radio and I am in seventh heaven ! ! ! !
HOLY CRAP ! ! ! ! Is it ever LOUD ! ! ! I will never get any crap about my LOUD pipes again .... LOL ....

I love my Hogtunes in the lowers, and you're right it is amazingly loud and clear

 

man I'm glad I read the post before I decided not to add lower speakers...........My first thougth was "forget it"....Even before I read the post.....

But curiousity caused me to open/read the post to see why the HOGTUNES are so bad.....LOL....

GOOD ONE............................I'm definitely getting them now since they are idiot proof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Here I was ready to bust your chops because NOBODY give customer service like Pez. Go figure, another satisfied customer.

 

I've been one for almost 10 years now !
Installed 4 of them on my 1998 FLHTCI as soon as I found about him.
I think THAT is why one of my Buddies bought it and I was able to buy my 07 Ultra.
LOL ... Maybe I should THANK Pez for selling that bike and having my NEW one ;-)

Damn it Pez! [:@]You need to help us Road Glider's out here, with our small door lowers. I asked someone on e-bay about a set for the 04 up that showed the square door's on it and he said it had the same doors that the ultra has, can any one second that?
