2008 EGC Misfires/Backfires
Cranked my 08 EG this morning, fired and sounded normal so I was going to let it idle for a minute or two then it died. \\; Cranked it again and it would hardly run. \\; Misfires and backfires. \\; Seeking input to what it could.

When my '03 did that it was the crankshaft position sensor. \\; Naturally the dealer "techs" couldn't figure it out, so I did it myself &\\; sold the bike shortly thereafter. \\; I've also read several stories about holes in the POS fuel pickup line in the tank causing problems when the gas gets low. \\; Also some cracked fuel pump issues.

Start simple, check the battery connections make sure they are tight. Then try all the plug type connections make sure they are tight also. Then if you do not find anything take the bike to someone you trust.

Hey guys thought I would let you know the problem...It was the fuel filter canister housing inside the tank...Made of plastic. \\; A corner was broken off.

A guy at work has a 08 EGC and the same thing happened to his bike last week. \\; It was the same thing, a cracked filter housing, he is still waiting for parts. \\; Seems the DLR told him that this is starting to happen to the 08's, seems a cheap design and no recall.

Gosh, \\; now it's got me worried. \\; Leaving for ROT rally this week and don't want to be broke down. \\; Hope it's an isolated incident and not effecting all 08's.
