Default Heat management system on the 07's

I made a comment in a thread about this when a guy was talking about his Ultra getting a little hot, anyway nobody seemed to care, so I'll mention it again, this is coming from the V-Twin forum, if you have a 07 bike then it is fuel inj, it also may or may not have the heat management system intact, in otherwords it might not be downloaded from the factory, it is being said that the motor co. will put it in once or take it out once at no charge then after that it's your dime.
Now I can not say that this is 100% fact but it wouldn't hurt to ask the service guy's if this is true, I'd hate to see someone burn down a new 96er if it can be avoided.

ditto on the factory warranty.

What usually happens when something is released from the factory, that the factory want's in the bike, there will be a campain or a recall to take care of the fubar. Case and point, with some of the new Volvos the service required light might not come on at the 7500 mile mark, so the dealers are being told to go in and correct it when they can, either on pre-delivery or when the customer comes in for the first free service.

06 Ultra and all other EFI bikes come with the heat management system installed in the ECM. This saves your motor if it gets to hot. That is my understanding anyway. Mine used to go into heat management when I stopped at a light or got stuck in traffic. Bikes run so lean that they overheat when you stop.

I had to add a PCIII to cool mine down. Love this bike now. Used to overheat so bad that I could not sit on it at a stop and it idled so rough when hot that it was embarrasing. Should not have problems like that on a new bike but it is the way EPA makes HD set them up to be legal. Wouldn't want a little 2 wheel bike to polute the world like a 18 wheeler.

Check out page 64 of the '07 Technical Forum. If I'm understanding this correctly, the '07 touring models have an optional download available that will actually shutdown the rear cylinder in prolonged idling conditions. The software can be downloaded and installed once at no charge and if necessary, removed once, at no charge.

But...

Unlike my '06 FLTRI and FXDC, there is no mention in the '07 FXDL Owner's Manual about a heat management system. There is only a warning against allowing the engine to idle too long. So I'm betting that yes, the heat management system has been removed for '07 with the exception of the optional rear cylinder cutoff mentioned above for the touring models.

WTF is up with that??? Why would the MoCo remove the 3-stage system used in the '06 models???
