You will find your oil gauge is \\;an accurate indicator of "yes, it is making pressure". \\;Unless \\;I am \\;troubleshooting an \\;oil related problem, it doesn't get my constant monitoring since \\;pressure can fluxuate over a wide range depending on oil \\;temperature and RPM.
 \\;
Cold oil makes a lot of pressure and hot oil makes a lot \\;less. \\;On my 2006 Road King the gauge will indicate in the \\;mid 20s to upper 30s at idle \\;when the \\;oil is cold. \\;I only get down below 10 PSI at idle \\;if the \\;oil is getting hot. \\;Usually my oil has to be well over 200 degrees to see below 10 PSI at idle.
 \\;
OBTW, don't beat on it with a large wrench. \\;If anything tap on it lightly with the back of your knuckle... \\;Same results with fewer dents.
Short story, cant post a long reply. \\; They replaced the oil sending unit. \\; Same problem went I drove off. \\; Bike warmed up, started to work.....who knows.
Same issue with my bike(1990 Softail custom 80"evo). Cold= good presure, Hot= almost zero presure. I don't hear anything bad, but crap, never thought that should happen.

This is normal for Evos, but TC's should show some pressure even when hot. Staying on 32 psi at idle when hot is not normal for the OP's '07 SG, though. Evos use pressure only for lifters, so unless you're hearing abnormal knocking noises from the lifters you're okay. My '96 RK showed zero at times when hot and is still running at 115k (at last check).

When the bike is at op temp, the gage works fine. \\;It drops back to 5-7 at idle. \\;Maybe it has always stayed up, when cold at idle, \\;and I hadnt noticed?
while they look cool, I don't need another thing to babysit. I'm under warrantee, so if anything goes bad, they can fix it for $50. Who needs the stress???
