Default Oil Pressure Gauge

Lately I've noticed that my oil pressure needle is in the straight up and down position at 32 when I'm cruising at 60-65 mph. Up until recently the oil pressure needle was consistently one notch past the midpoint on the gauge at cruising speed. I have always used synthetic oil since the bike was new. I checked the oil level and it's good. My bike has just over 38K miles on it. Would the fact that I'm getting into higher milage cause this drop in oil pressure? I know it's not that significant, but I'm more curious than anything. So, what is considered the proper oil pressure level on the 110 engines?

A couple of things to consider would be the ambient temperature that you were recently riding in and the other would be how many miles on this particular batch of crankcase oil. Really hot weather will sometimes cause your oil pressure to drop a little. However, it does not sound like you have an oil pressure problem.

Make sure the gauge hasn't 'recalibrated' itself (that it's not messed-up).

So it's at '32' at 60-65 mph. What was it before, i.e., what is 'one notch past the midpoint' in terms of pressure?

My stock 103 runs about 40 psi (believe that's the units) at 70 MPH (when it's not hot). When it gets hot, it's right around 36-37 psi at 70.

That's plenty and probably due to a cheap gauge. Run it!

The Harley gauges are not the best quality and I'd guess that it's showing it's age. In a different lifetime as I started out of college, I calibrated test gauges and instruments. Even expensive gauges lose their calibration over time and in less harsh vibration conditions. Trust me, we don't have expensive gauges on our Harleys. I'd use it as a general reference, not an exact indicator.
