have a mount question for my oil tank. i have a horseshoe tank but i think i need an adapter kit of some sort. may have found 1 in jp cycles. i think the battery will fit inside the oil tank also. there are 2 pics of basically the frame toward the rear. 2 pics of the oil tank mainly the back of the tank and a down shot of the tank. the prev. owner must have started to hack away at this thing by the looks of it. also thanks for the help on the starter block off plate. big help. now my pushrod cover kit is on back order through jireh. looks like jp gets the call. thanks for the help AGAIN. lanky
Since it's a non-stock tank, you can be sure the mounts will needed to be fabricated, even if the instructions say, "Bolts right on!" I know this 'cause I've got one in my shop that was s'posed to "bolt right on" my Sloptail. [8D]
can i set the battery inside or should i get a mount for that also? i found an ignition coil in jp cycles and i wanna make sure its the right one. 12 volt. p# 381-262. it says for those who use points i think. is this the right one? thank you
also found this part# in jp for oil tank mount and wonder if it would work- 740-998
thanks
also before i forget. what about the length of chain for the sprocket.
I couldn't find that mount number in my catalog. If you have a Sportster horseshoe tank it shouldn't need an adapter. If it's not a Sporty tank, then who knows!
Coils from J&P that'll work with points: 380-004, 380-980, 381-231, 381-341, 380-503, 380-897
