30th Annual ‘Ride for Life’ Sets New Fundraising Record
Biker event rakes in $1.2 mil for Muscular Dystrophy Association.
This year marks a milestone for the MDA Ride for Life, and it also marked a huge achievement once the 30th annual event was over. What started out with 120 bikers riding through Milwaukee on a Wednesday morning ended with around 2,000 to 3,000 in Redding, Pennsylvania. And a record breaking $1.2 million dollar fundraising effort. It was a truly amazing event that will undoubtedly go a long way in helping families affected by Muscular Dystrophy.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association hosts the event each year not only to further research for treatments and cures, but also to help provide care and treatment for individuals affected by the disease. This year’s event featured a number of rides, food, and entertainment for the whole family. From numerous concerts to stunt riding and even pig races, there was fun to be had for everyone.
Not to mention the typical generosity you would expect from the Harley-Davidson enthusiast community. Adults are only required to donate a minimum of $30 to participate, but as usual, most went far beyond that. In total, Harley-Davidson has raised over $100 million dollars for the MDA, with the Ride for Life event contributing over $21 million.
But the best part of the entire event is seeing the smiling faces of the many young folks in attendance. It’s clear from these pictures that they had a great time. And you simply can’t put a price tag on that.
