Harley-Davidson Freightliner Coronado: Coolest Big Rig Ever?

Forget about those boring, cookie-cutter big rigs. This special Harley hauler is the way to eat up those highway miles!

Here in the states, big rigs are nearly as common as passenger cars on our many miles of highways. But when it comes to truck drivers, few are as lucky as a guy named Mick Grace. That’s because Grace doesn’t just drive any ordinary big rig. He pilots one of two Harley-Davidson Freightliner Coronado trucks, used to haul show trailers across Australia.

Needless to say, that kind of work invokes a little jealousy. “People often tell me they would kill to get this job,” Grace told Big Rigs in a recent interview. “And they are not kidding.” Obviously, murder isn’t necessarily a good way to accomplish anything. But it does speak to the fact that Grace has, quite possibly, the best job on the planet.

After all, he gets to attend all kinds of awesome events, including bike shows and festivals. All he has to do is roll in with his massive Harley-Davidson Freightliner Coronado, filled to the brim with H-D accessories and other goodies. But his ride isn’t exactly stock either, of course. To make this a proper Harley truck, it’s loaded with acres of chrome. From the bug deflector to the rear light bar.

Grace gets to ride in supreme comfort in some cushy leather seats. Leather also covers the bunk wall, which sports orange diamond-pattern stitching and H-D logos. There’s a fridge to keep his beverages frosty, and even a nice wide mattress to catch z’s on. And, of course, some old school touches like a woodgrain dash and doors.

Needless to say, Grace enjoys driving the fancy hauler, likening it to “riding in the lap of luxury.” The only downside? It draws a ton of attention. Almost to a fault! “It looks so good that everyone wants to take a picture,” Grace said. “The only problem is that they often do it while they are driving, so things can get a bit dicey.”
