Default 2016 FLTRU Twin Cooling Fan Operation

Recently had my water pump replaced with the upgraded style pump. Have noticed since that both fans don't com on simultaneously, they run independent of one another. I never noticed this prior to the pump replacement, I always remember them coming on together.

Thanks!

It's always been the left fan kicks in then almost immediately the right kicks in.

This is the way my fans operate too. If one of his is running and the other is not something must have been changed in the ECM.

Took it back to the shop that replaced the pump, who I trust, said they can run independently. All controlled by the ECM. Maybe the upgraded pump causes them to operate a little differently than with the original pump.

I have the upgraded pump and did a lot of over-research (as usual) when I went to replace it. I've heard of the fans coming on slightly apart from each other, but the system design doesn't seem to warrant separate control. With the ignition only on, twist the throttle half way and hold it until the cooling system check starts. If both fans don't come on right away, I'd bet you're due one more visit to the installer.

I've owned 5 wet head Harley's. The left fan comes on a split second before the right. Just for snits and giggles just went to the garage and checked my '21 Limited. Left fan still comes on first! Stock bike/no tuner.

If it's been tuned at Doc;s it has been done with a TTS. It turns one fan on first then the second, one of the things the TTS does differently.

My '22 FLTRK, I have noticed 2 times now, the left fan on only. When I got back home, I did the cooling system test. Both fans worked fine. Did the test a few times so far and both fans work fine. Most of the time when I hear my fans on now I check and both are on. So seems that the left fan can run by itself for some reason.
