Default M8 owners.....Help!

If you have never owned a twin cooled twin cam Harley you may or may not be aware of the issues surrounding the failed/failing coolant pump on the twin cooled Rushmores (2014-2016). On 8/30 Harley introduced a repair kit to address this issue that includes a redesigned coolant pump. The new coolant pump has been described as being very similar (if not identical) to the coolant pump on the 2017 and newer M8 twin cooled Harleys. I can't find where this question has been asked so I'll be the first(?). Has the coolant pump on the twin cooled M8s provided trouble free performance for the 2+ years they have been in use? Any info/insight you can provide regarding your experience will be greatly appreciated by the twin cooled twin cam community. Thank you

I've not personally seen it mentioned on the m8 forum. You may get a couple people that will chime in here that theirs failed, but that wouldn't mean that its pervasive.

I know with a stage 3 kit, my 2018 Limited Anniversary in very slow traffic, 100 to 110 degree weather has never missed a beat, no coolant loss or anything else. Its been traffic like that all summer with the construction on I-44.

I just replaced my pump on my 2015 Limited. 2 dealers had no knowledge of an upgraded pump. A M8 pumpnis vastly different than a twin cooled pump. Look at them both and compare at Ronnie’s HD online parts microfiche. No way an M8 pump will fit a twin cooled.

I stand corrected. Seems there IS a new pump and it is very similar to the M8 pump. HD redesigned not only the pump but the mounting bracket and all the hoses. Damn it ! I just replaced my old pump with the old part number 2 weeks ago!

Same bike, color and miles. Just had my 10k done Saturday. I believe I got mine a month or two ahead of you. You caught up with me!

I have not heard of any M8 coolant issues. My brother has a 2015 and he has not had any problems with the coolant pump.

M8 pumps are variable speed on demand unlike twincams that ran with engine running. no issue after 22 months with my 17.
