Thanks, an hour is well worth it for me too. Good point on the warranty thing, something goes wrong in there first thing they'll ask is "who did this?". I'm going in soon for my 5K, I'll get it done then...

You're right, I really should sell my bike in shame. But I won't. But thinks for your opinion. IMHO Oh, and "not to be offensive" (that minimizes the toilet reference, right?)

I have seven bikes, they all have different controls for blinkers/horn/on/off/abs on or off/etc.

so i just don't use any of them for fear of ridicule, except the ones that are consistent (throttle, clutch, brake). i would be so embarrassed if i honked the horn when going for the blinker, all my moto bros would tell me to hang up my boots.

The other night was my first ride at night, the end of a 7 hour day, two hours at night with the stock headlight in the country, really sucked. Had a few cars behind me but i couldn't see well enough with the light, nor are there really any paved areas to pull over and let the impatient ones pass. The roads are narrow and i wanted to make sure i was giving turn signals so not to get rear ended. the thought of hitting the kill switch instead of the turn signal crossed my mind, and my attention was to stay upright on the curvy back road with no light other than my headlight. A little unnerving for awhile.

Anyway, i am having my day lights installed along with pull back bars and lighted controls. HD has a good, or the dealer does, 18 percent off parts and 15 percent off labor. For me no labor for the CD lights/led turn signals, or hand control lights, since i'm getting the other stuff.

One semi harrowing night ride and i pussied out, actually i thought i have been thru too much in my life not to have the basic safety stuff: good lights, brakes and tires.

I hope to have all three in two days, currently being installed.

I have had to fly 7 or 8 different aircraft, airplanes and helicopters, in the same assignment, and keeping straight where each switch was in a black cockpit was a challenge. Most of the switches were back lit.

You always need to be able to perform the first few emergency check list items from memory (immediate action type things). But cleaning up the cockpit back lit switches were generally there. On a few aircraft they weren't so that is where i had a mini mag in my hand confirming the switch prior to engaging or disengaging it.

So mod it for style but also for safety.

I was looking at buying he lighted hand controls for my 2014 ultra classic but was wondering, what do you do with the PTT button on the new controls? My classic doesn't have a cb therefore I don't currently have that switch.

Doesn't your classic have a black plug currently where the cb ptt switch would be? If so, then just move it to the new controls.

So the PTT button has to be removed from the lighted controls and replaced with the plug? I looked at the switches at the local dealer and it didn't look like the PTT button could be removed.

I just installed mine on my 14 SGS, very easy to do. And no you cannot remove any plug, have to leave the CB button. When you push it is says "No CB Installed, see your Local Harley Davidson Dealer" on the Informant Screen.

All you need is a little common sense and mechanical knowledge, remove the brake and clutch assembly's, then the switch housing covers, unplug, remove and re install.
And cover your Tank during the process. If you can replace grips and levers you can do this, just pay attention to what your doing.

Kind of funny isn't it ........ We have the PTT button on our S G's, yet no CB or tour pack. He at least has the tour pack with the knock out plug for the antenna, etc. yet no PTT button on his hand controls .......... Go figure.
