Saw this thread and definitely going get one. But how do you remove the heal rubber from the pipe? I have tried everything, including goo gone, gasoline and kerosene.
Use a razor blade after it cools down and dries real good. Scrape gently and it should come right off with no scratches. I did that when I melted my thermo suit on my pipes, worked like a champ. If you don't like that idea, a lot of people on here use 0000 steel wool and wd-40, they say that works well also.
Installed it this afternoon and although it looks better than most guards i have seen and isnt going to fall off like the adhesive one from Kuryaken, it will still mash into my pipe if i ever hit the floor board.
Seeing as how this limited sits higher than my 08 Electra Glide and i haven't come close to hitting a floorboard, i dont think its a real concern.

I warmed up the bike for a few minutes yesterday, took some chrome polish on one of those mesh plastic covered sponges and put some elbow grease into it. Itll come off. Not so sure id want to go at it with a razor knife though.
If you're meaning this one (see pic), I had reservations about it when I thought about purchasing and installing it. I kept getting black rubber from my boot on the pipe and from the looks of the heel guard, I doubted it would prevent that. Well....after putting it on, I can absolutely say it works. I haven't put another mark from boots on the pipes since installing it. No issues, blends in well and works as hoped for. Highly recommended.
Great looking bike you got there. That paint job is sick!
When I added the 1" extension to the floorboard mounts it was a bit odd (my feet naturally point out a lot), so I extended it 3/4" inwards towards the engine with a stainless bracket I made from some old bar stock, and a longer bolt with a spacer. Now my foot is fully supported on the floorboard, and no black marks. I didn't go the full inch to leave a little more space between it and the exhaust.
Edit: the bracket and bolt also allowed me to move the guard rearward about another inch; more room to move around on long rides.
