IMO, the biggest difference between the wet head and air cooled bikes has to do with how they run on hot days. The air cooled engines retard timing to help deal with heat. Thus reducing power. The wet heads are able to maintain consistent temperature and therefore don't suffer the same loss of performance during hot weather riding.

Since the Twin Cooled motors are being called "Wet Heads" I think the air cooled should be called "Air Heads"! Easier to say and type then air cooled.

Found set of wet heads and Air Heads and took a photo of the two the top is the wet head and the bottom is the Air Head. Definitely a different combustion chamber. Wet lot smaller than Air. Looked at a set of heads off 12 limited and they are just like the Air heads. The wet head checked 3.765" the 14 air 3.775" and the 12 at 3.750" and Kompressor heads measured 3.688" all measured from valve cover surface to the head gasket surface of the head. Didn't get a chance to check the Wet CNC or the dry CNC. Will see the MVA going on a 14 Road King 113 kit soon. The Wet head chamber is way smaller than enough to make it 10 to 1. Must have more deck height. The stage 4 kit with 10.5 compression on the air uses a domed piston. The WET head stage 4 with 10.5 uses a flat top piston, so evidently they have the more deck height to play with on the wet head because of the smaller combustion chamber.

The SE stage III kit has 11:25-1 pistons for the wethead. Wow.
