Long Ride Shield great but now have side buffeting
Ok, here we go! My new SGS came with stock 4 inch shield. No good! Ordered 10 inch Long Ride shield. No good, toooo high! Ordered 7 inch Long Ride shield, no good, toooo low. Ordered 9 inch Long Ride shield, Bingo, perfect! However I now find that there is no appreciable buffeting from the top of the shield but am experiencing quite a bit from I believe below or possibly from the sides as the wind whips around my face and ears. Any suggestions as to how I can eliminate this side or from below buffeting?
Incidentally, James from Long Ride Shields is the best! Although I could not return the shields that didn,t work, (sold them here) he offered me a considerable discount on the reorders and included free priority shipping as well
The" Fugly fangs" as some call them, removed rest of buffering after I put on 9'' Freedom Shield, going to try the lower fairing mount ones as they just became available for 14's
I noticed with the shield I put on that if I open the vents on the bottom edge of the batwing, if greatly reduces the buffeting for me. With them in the closed position my head will bobble around quite a lot. I think the shield gives so much protection that it's created a pocket of negative pressure - opening those vents decreases that pocket and the strength of the negative pressure.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
That is way to serious for this forum. However, it is a good story.

Just curious what you mean by "lower fairing mount ones", do you have a link?
Just thinking of getting one but not sure witch size to get.How tall are you and do you still have the stock seat on? I went and put on the 7" wind splitter from HD and it is no good. Thanks for any input Kevin
