I just recently upgrade my phone from a Verizon galaxy note 3 to a Verizon galaxy note 4. The galaxy note 3 would display artist and song information when connected through Bluetooth. This was when using stock music app, proamp music app and Pandora.
Now that I've upgraded to the new galaxy note 4 this has been as minor issue. Now when using Pandora it says unknown artist and song.
Anyone using the new galaxy note 4 and having this issue? I have yet to update the stereo software to latest and greatest.
I have a Samsung S4 and could never get the album art or the minutes left in the song to work through bluetooth. I gave up and just leave a flash drive plugged in with music and album art that works fine. In the spring I will be upgrading to the Note 4. Hope you get it figured out?

Check to see if the encryption option is activated on your phone. When the option was on my Note4 it wouldn't share data with my car or bike. It works fine now since I turned it off.
Just upgraded from an iPhone that worked perfect with the system to the note 4 which is having the same issue as you, how do you turn the encryption off?
I just got a Nexus 6, boom box will show artist on Pandora if bike is running first, otherwise, unknown artist displays. System worked fine with my Galaxy S2 ??????????

It's under your general setting, in the security option.
I just went from a S4 to a Note 4. Having the same issue off and on. The actual issue this time is the new bluetooth software isn't transmitting the metadata to the stereo. The carrier's are aware and are supposed to be updating the phone to fix the issue. This from my Verizon sales lady and other web searches with this issue.
I had no issues what so ever with the Verizon HtC One M8, but I now own the Verizon IPhone 5c and I can t see the SMS messages, but I can read the contacts and no music issues. I have installed the latest Infotainment update.
