Default Another Problem

I have a 2014 Ultra Limited with 13,000 miles. During that time I have had three thermostats replaced, one water pump, two sensors. Just this week I decided to check the coolant and found that it was empty! The dealer is supposed to pick it up tomorrow to try and find out the problem. I asked about the Lemon Law while I was at the dealer and was told they didn't know the details and that I would have to consult with a lawyer to find out. All of the problems I have had, have been related to the coolant system.

I am truly at a loss as to what to do! I feel like I have been sold a product that is very flawed and quite frankly they really don't know how to fix the problems that I have had. In case anyone is wondering I haven't done any modifications to my bike. All of the scheduled services have been done. And I don't abuse my bike. I ride it which is what it was intended for. I shouldn't have these problems with my bike. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to contact me. It would be greatly appreciated. Ride Safe.

Thanks for the quick response and advice. I skimmed over the link and there is a lot to digest. On a side note, I am USAF retired, E7 as well. Thanks for you service. I will look into what the manual says I need to do. I was surprised when the dealer told me they didn't know anything about the Lemon Law. Needless to say I didn't believe that! Thanks again.

I can understand your frustration. I had all the recalls etc done on my Limited and it was fairly trouble free until I turned 10K miles. Started having all kinds of electrical issues with the Infotainment and gauges etc. ABS lights, engine lights, security lights etc coming on while riding down the road. Got tired of dealing with it and traded for a Road King since they don't have the cooling, Infotainment system and other foo foo that can be issues. Interesting thing there was the right rear shock started leaking and had to be replaced at 200 miles. WTH

Just sell it since its so bad of a bike. Or trade it in and get a street glide there still air cooled. Problem is its a first year out production run and theres gonna be those issues that happen like the OP is having. It happens we either grin and bare it or get rid of it. I personally love my new SG even with the glitches of the infotainment and clutch recall and what have you, I still love the bike and wouldn't trade it for anything else on the road at this time.

Good luck with the bike and Thank you for your service. I was a Seabee during desert shield and Storm.

Default Another Problem

Update: Today they picked up my motorcycle to try and find out what the problem was. They couldn't find anywhere the coolant had drained from. They filled the coolant up and put in a dye that would only show up with a black light. They rode the bike for 15 miles and then back to the dealer and checked for leaks and didn't find any leaks.

They put my bike on a trailer and drove it back to where I work. When the driver arrived at where I work he opened the enclosed trailer and there was coolant everywhere. So back to the dealer where they found the leak coming from some hoses that are somewhere above the thermostat at the front of the motor. I don't understand why every possible point that coolant could have leaked from wasn't checked to begin with!

As of right now, I don't know if it will be fixed tomorrow or not. Nor do I know exactly what the problem is. I will find out. I am very frustrated. I just want my bike to be what the Motor Company says it is, equal to what any other manufacturer is producing of a similar model. We as consumers deserve better. There is a problem! Fix it and be honest with us as consumers. You have our money, do the right thing!

That sounds very much like the original issues with 'puking'; there was a product improvement program (or whatever HD calls it) to change the neck of the rad to another part (different material). The original part would distort over the temperature range allowing air into the system.

Best of luck!

Default Another Problem, Update

My bike is supposed to be delivered to me this morning at about 1130 AM. The two tubes/ hoses were replaced with new ones. The service tech originally wanted to just straighten them out and reattach. I told him that wouldn't work for me that I wanted new parts installed. Luckily they were able to find new parts at another dealer instead of ordering the parts. Has anyone else had an issue with these parts? Wish me luck with this latest repair. I hope it has fixed the problem. I used to be so happy with this bike, I felt pride of ownership to a level that I never had before with another type of motorcycle. Now I am constantly worried and thinking what's next? Ride Safe Everyone.
