Question for you PV2 users... what is the advantage of using a PV2 over just getting a dyno done? Especially if you put it away as soon as you're done with it?
Does the PV2 do a better job than a dyno run because it is more real-world?
I'm a future user, but my take on it is flexibility. A dyno tune is one and done......... Unless you change something like exhaust. Then back to the dyno and open the wallet. A tuner like the PV2 allows for minor changes like exhaust and A/C. An auto tune should get you 90% there, which is way better than the factory EPA mandated tune. The dyno tune gets you to 100%. But, that's if you have a competent tech doing the tune. Some are better than others.
In the end, to me, it seems that if you have a stage 1, the auto tune route is a good one. Once you add cams and head work, you should probably have the bike dyno tuned.
One more question... in the old days a person might install some things and then do a dyno tune involving swapping out carb jets and re-testing. It wasn't much more than that, right? These days, does the person running the dyno actually need to do anything to "tune" or does the dyno machine itself program the bike? What skills would a dyno tech need?
